Florida County-by-County Week 1 Betting Breakdown: UF vs. Miami
What can we learn from an early season matchup between in-state rivals? When looking at the statewide data during the first college football kickoff weekend with legal sports betting, the answer: Quite a bit!
At first glance, the breakdown would seem to be as expected with Miami coloring the Southern part of the state green and the Gators holding down the bulk of the Northern counties. But let’s go next level:
- As the state’s most populous county, it’s no surprise that Miami-Dade has most bettors wagering on this grudge match. And of those, they’re betting on the hometown Canes…hard. That’s right 77.2% of Miami-Dade bettors are taking the U to win.
- However, the confidence drops as you head along the I-95 corridor. 72.5% of bettors in Broward are taking Miami, but that number falls to 59.7% in Palm Beach County, 54.1% in Martin County, before it flips to Gator Country in Brevard County.
- If you thought the confidence meter was off the charts in Miami-Dade, you should visit Gainesville and Alachua County. In data taken before any out-of-towners attending Saturday’s game could skew it, a whopping 85.9% of betters are taking Florida to win.
- How do Florida State fans feel about this matchup? Leon County finds itself torn, but is backing fellow ACC member Miami to win by a slim 51.5-48.5 margin.
