The NFL playoffs have arrived and the Tampa Bay Bucs are in the field for a fifth consecutive season. As the champion of the NFC South, the Bucs (10-7) have earned the #3 seed and will host the Washington Commanders (12-5) in the Wild Card round on Sunday night at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
On the eve of such a monumental game we found ourselves wondering… how is Tampa feeling about their team? … and as the only legal Florida sports betting app we took a look at the data and can tell you the answer is… pretty good.
Bucs to the Super Bowl?
At the time of publication the Bucs Super Bowl odds were listed at +2500, or 25-1 on Hard Rock Bet, making them one of largest underdogs to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in 2025. However, that hasn’t stopped local Tampa bettors from backing their team.
In fact, a majority of futures bets in the counties closest to Tampa – Hillsborough, Highlands, Hernando, Hardee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Mantatee, are on the Bucs to win it all. Perhaps unsurprisingly, these are the only counties in the state of Florida that are showing such strong support for the Buccaneers.
Statewide support
Super Bowl futures are one of the most popular NFL betting markets as they can provide an exciting, long-term sweat. As such, we also pulled data on all of the Super Bowl futures placed by Florida bettors since Monday, January 6th, after the playoff bracket was set. It should come as no surprise that the current betting favorite, the Detroit Lions, have received the highest volume of bets… but the Bucs have been the recipient of significant backing despite their longshot status.
- Detroit Lions – 20.7% of Super Bowl winner bets
- Baltimore Ravens – 17.3% of Super Bowl winner bets
- Buffalo Bills – 13.6% of Super Bowl winner bets
- Kansas City Chiefs – 11.7% of Super Bowl winner bets
- Philadelphia Eagles – 11% of Super Bowl winner bets
- Tampa Bay Bucs – 8.45% of Super Bowl winner bets
The Bucs slot in right behind the five clear betting favorites.
Bucs vs Commanders betting trends
All Super Bowl runs have to begin somewhere, and for the Bucs the first hurdle comes in the form of the Washington Commanders and sensational rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. These two teams met back in Week 1 of the NFL season with the Buccaneers coming away with a commanding 37-20 victory. However, Washington’s 12-5 record indicate that this Wild Card matchup may be a closer contest. At the time of publication the Bucs were a -3 favorite, and the over/under sits at an enticing 50 points – the highest of the six Wild Card Weekend games.
Unsurprisingly, local bettors are all over the Bucs in this one.
- 64% of the moneyline bets on the game are on the Buccaneers to win outright
- 58% of spread bets are in favor of the Bucs covering the three points
- 77% of totals wagers are on the OVER of 50 points
Most bet Bucs-Commanders props
Florida bettors are also backing the local team through their individual player props. The most-bet props for Bucs-Commanders are mostly Bucs players:
- Mike Evans anytime TD
- Bucky Irving anytime TD
- Terry McLaurin anytime TD
- Baker Mayfield over 1.5 passing TDs
- Jalen McMillan anytime TD
- Baker Mayfield over 199.5 passing yards
