Before we delve too far into covering Super Bowl odds and information, let’s quickly recap what the Super Bowl is. The Super Bowl is the final game of the NFL season that ultimately declares the champion. It matches the winner of both conferences, the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC) for all the marbles. At it’s conclusion the winning team is awarded the Lombardi Trophy by the NFL commissioner and is forever enshrined in history as a champion. The loser? Well, better luck next year… the stakes in the Super Bowl are well and truly at their highest. While many American sports love a Best of 7 Series, the Super Bowl is very much a one-off, winner-take-all affair.
The Super Bowl is now played each year in early February, and always starts in the early evening on a Sunday (around 6:30pm ET). However, many other aspects of the game rotate due to the importance of the event. For example, broadcasting rights change from year to year, as does the physical location of the game.
To put it simply, there are a lot of ways to bet on football, and the Super Bowl with Hard Rock Bet. Common bet types for every Super Bowl include:
The point spread is one of the most popular ways to bet on Super Bowl. When betting a Super Bowl spread you’re picking a side with an adjusted handicap factored in. For example, if a team closed as a -2 favorite it means they must win by more than 2 points to cover the spread and win the bet. Conversely, the underdog priced at +2 would need to either win the game or lose by less than 2 points to cover.
Betting the spread for the Super Bowl creates intrigue in that it evens the odds between two already accomplished teams.
Generally speaking there is an approximately two-week long window to place Super Bowl spread bets. While some Super Bowl futures markets are available all year, Hard Rock Bet can’t set a spread until the teams are actually set for the game on Championship Sunday.
When betting on point totals for the Super Bowl you’re placing a wager on the total number of points scored in the “Big Game”. Will it go over or under the established line? Super Bowl point totals are a great way to bet on action, or a lack thereof, instead of siding with a specific team.
For example, the total for Super Bowl LVII in February 2024 was set at 47.5 points. The game settled with a 25-22 win for the Kansas City Chiefs, resulting in 47 points – a win for under bettors.
While betting on the Super Bowl’s overall total is by far the most popular market in this category, you can also bet Super Bowl totals for single quarters, halves, individual teams, etc. There’s a lot of variety available here.
Super Bowl Winner bets, or more traditionally known as moneyline bets, are probably the easiest bet to make and sweat. You’re picking a team to win the title and betting solely on that outcome. The score doesn’t matter in the slightest – you’re simply betting on which team ends the night holding the Lombardi Trophy.
Keep in mind that both participants will have individual odds that reflect their perceived chances of winning the game. If you’re betting on the Super Bowl favorite to win on the moneyline, it won’t pay as much as a bet on the underdog. Favorites will have a minus (-) next to their odds, like -175, meaning you would need to wager that amount of money to profit $100. On the other side a team with plus (+) odds like +220 indicates a $100 bet would return $220 in profit.
Head-to-head Super Bowl moneylines won’t be set until after the AFC and NFC Championship games have concluded, but you can bet on Super Bowl futures throughout the year (more on these later) where the task is simple: pick the team who wins it all.
Super Bowl props have quickly grown into one of the most common ways to bet on the Big Game. With props, instead of betting on the actual outcome of the game – like the final point total, who wins, or the margin of victory – you’re betting on specific results within the game. Props can include player performance like who scores the touchdowns, QB passing yard totals, player rushing yards, player receiving yards, and extend to the more obscure… Will a non-QB complete a pass? Will a Field Goal or Point After hit the upright? What’s the result of the coin toss?
Note, availability of props can depend on the market you are betting from.
The Super Bowl is really the Super Bowl of Same Game Parlays. For those not familiar, a parlay is a bet where you attach the success of your wager to the outcome of multiple bets. A Same Game Parlay is when all of those bets are housed within the same game. On Super Bowl Sunday there’s only one game that bettors are eyeing, making it the perfect opportunity for a SGP.
Hard Rock Bet allows bettors to customize all kinds of Same Game Parlays for the Super Bowl. For example, for Super Bowl 58 you could have had a Same Game Parlay with:
With Super Bowl Same Game Parlays you can include player props, as well as more traditional wagers like the spread, total, winner, etc. These bets require multiple outcomes going your way, creating an excellent sweat… plus the payouts dwarf that of a standard wager.
Hard Rock Bet excels at live betting for all sports, but for the Super Bowl the experience gets taken to the next level. As the most watched sporting event in the country, live betting options will be available throughout the game and prominently displayed within the Hard Rock Bet app and sportsbook website.
All Super Bowl betting odds will be updated in real time and provide an opportunity for bettors to wager as the action takes place.
The Super Bowl in particular excels as a live betting event in part because there is more opportunity to do it. Media timeouts, commercials, and a long halftime show that roughly doubles the mid-game break are all wonderful opportunities to assess the odds and place wagers.
One of the true advantages of live betting on the Super Bowl is the ability to adapt your betting plan on the fly. Placed a few bets pre-game that aren’t going your way? With live betting you can adjust your strategy at any time and pivot. While you can’t cancel your old bets, you can place new ones.
Super Bowl futures are bets placed on the Super Bowl well in advance of the actual game and are available year round, meaning you can bet on teams – from favorites to long shots – at any time. The most popular Super Bowl futures bet is to simply pick the team that wins the game, though as the season progress more markets do open up – like picking the Super Bowl MVP.
When betting SB futures timing is everything. Not only is it essential to pick the right time, getting the right price is also valuable. The 2023 Kansas City Chiefs are a prime example of finding value with Super Bowl futures. The Chiefs opened the season among the favorites to win Super Bowl 58, however, following five defeats in eight games – their Super Bowl odds had diminished considerably. If you bet the Chiefs to win after their Christmas Day loss to the Raiders in Week 16, you would have had a much better price than what was available earlier in the season, or later into the playoffs.
As soon as the the first wave of odds are posted through until the next champion is crowned, each piece of information is used to most accurately assess the league and who could potentially win the Big Game. The draft, free agency, injuries, trades, coaching changes, slow starts — a ton of factors are used to determine the currently available prices.
Super Bowl futures odds are always available. You can bet early, before the season even starts, or wait until an hour before kick-off on Super Bowl Sunday – it’s all up to the bettor. Just keep in mind that the odds and pricing will change as more information is known.
It wasn’t long after the confetti fell on the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024 that the initial wave of Super Bowl betting odds came out for the 2025 season. Unsurprisingly the Kansas City Chiefs were once again favored to win the Super Bowl having successfully climbed to the mountain top in both 2023 and 2024. The big question will be whether they can pull off the three-peat. As long as Patrick Mahomes is playing quarterback, the Chiefs will be strong contenders not just in the AFC, but for the Super Bowl. Interestingly, the Ravens and Bills have also emerged as favorites creating a crowded AFC playoff picture.
Super Bowl odds for NFC teams do appear to be more wide open heading into the 2025 season, but there is a big favorite there, too. The San Francisco 49ers fell to the Chiefs in both 2020 and 2024, and are favored to represent the NFC again in 2025. The Detroit Lions, who lost to the 49ers in the NFC Championship, remain extremely competitive, too. Odds on a Lions Super Bowl continue to shorten with each impressive win.
Since the Super Bowl is easily the biggest American sporting event of the year, it won’t be hard to find Super Bowl betting odds at any point throughout the season. There will be prominent tabs for both the NFL, and from there, the Super Bowl.
After the conference championship games are played is when the majority of Super Bowl odds and markets will appear. Once this happens they will be made incredibly prominent within the Hard Rock Bet interface, right from the homepage.
Hard Rock Bet takes pride in having the best Super Bowl odds out on the market, and that will apply to all of the different betting options that you will find for the biggest game of the year.
